Used when partner opens a major or minor suit and your RHO makes a takeout double. Your bid of 2NT shows a limit raise or better with 4-card support in a major or 5-card support in a minor. This allows you to show a limit raise or better hand, reserving the jump response to be weak in competition.

Partner assumes you have a limit raise (10 - 12) and bids accordingly. If you have more let him know.

Note: If RHO overcalls and you have a limit raise or better, make an immediate cue bid of the overcalled suit. Used with major and minor suits.
