"Trump Echo" Carding

Note: No need to alert opponents for this carding convention, but your convention card should indicate this agreement.

When following declarer's trump leads you may play high-low to show three or more trump. This is done only if you have a chance to ruff another suit.

If there isn't a good opportunity to ruff don't echo for two reasons:

1. Don't encourage partner to make a poor play hoping to give you a ruff that doesn't exist.

2. You might possibly help declarer to better manage the trump suit.
